सार

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 represents a landmark reform in India’s educational landscape, aiming to foster holistic, multidisciplinary, and skill-oriented learning in higher education. This study explores the integration of NEP 2020 within contemporary Indian universities and its potential role in building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). Through a qualitative analysis of policy frameworks, institutional practices, and recent reforms, the study identifies key opportunities and challenges in  implementing NEP 2020 at the university level. The research highlights the emphasis on flexible curricula, multidisciplinary programs, skill development, and the promotion of research and innovation as pivotal factors in enhancing academic quality. Additionally, it examines the role of technology, digital learning, and governance reforms in strengthening institutional capacity. The findings suggest that successful integration of NEP 2020 can significantly contribute to developing critical thinking, employability, and socio-economic development among students, thereby aligning higher education with national developmental goals. The study underscores the need for strategic planning, faculty training, and  stakeholder collaboration to ensure that universities not only comply with NEP mandates but also transform into centers of excellence that drive India’s vision of a developed nation.
