सार

The implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP)–2020 represents a decisive shift in India’s higher education landscape toward flexibility, digital integration, and learner-centric pedagogical reform. Within this transformative context, blended and hybrid learning models have gained strategic importance as sustainable instructional frameworks that integrate face-to-face classroom engagement with structured digital and online learning environments.

This paper critically examines the pedagogical relevance and effectiveness of blended and hybrid learning models in contemporary university education, with specific emphasis on learner engagement, academic performance, and alignment with the core objectives of NEP. Adopting a descriptive and analytical research approach, the study systematically evaluates instructional design practices, learner participation patterns, and academic outcome indicators within a blended-hybrid learning framework implemented at the undergraduate level. Quantitative performance data are complemented by qualitative insights drawn from learner feedback and classroom observations to assess the extent to which these models support flexibility, inclusivity, and self-directed learning.

The findings reveal that blended and hybrid learning environments contribute to improved conceptual understanding, higher learner engagement, enhanced digital competence, and increased learner autonomy when compared to exclusively traditional instructional modes. The study further establishes that blended and hybrid learning models operationalize key NEP-2020 mandates such as outcome-based education, technology-enabled learning, and equitable access without compromising academic rigor.

The paper concludes that the systematic and pedagogically informed integration of blended and hybrid learning models is not merely a transitional response to digitalization but a foundational strategy for re-imagining university education in India. Such integration holds significant potential to strengthen institutional resilience, promote inclusive educational practices, and advance the national vision of a digitally empowered, knowledge-driven Viksit Bharat.
