From Vision to Reality: Implementing NEP 2020 for Excellence in Indian Universities and National Development

Abstract

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 outlines a visionary framework for transforming Indian higher education into a system characterized by excellence, equity, and global relevance. This study examines how the policy’s core objectives can be effectively translated into institutional practice to advance national development. By analyzing key provisions—such as multidisciplinary curriculum design, flexible learning pathways, technology integration, outcome-based assessment, and strengthened research ecosystems—the study highlights the practical strategies required for bridging the gap between vision and implementation.

It emphasizes the crucial roles of institutional autonomy, faculty development, academic leadership, governance reforms, and sustainable resource allocation in ensuring successful policy execution. The research also underscores the importance of inclusivity through increased access for marginalized groups, enhanced student support systems, and community engagement initiatives.
